A quick sketch I did after reading Dan Simmons' excellent novels Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion. The Shrike is a terrifying, seemingly indestructible being made of blades and razorwire, covered in quicksilver (according to the author's description, at least). It also has complete command over time, allowing it to easily overpower the most powerful armadas sent to destroy it.

The Shrike is (c) Dan Simmons.

Much much better than any other artistic version I've seen of the Shrike. Nice!

Thank you! The Shrike was definitely a menacing presence, so much so that I practically CHEERED when Kassad went into hand-to-hand combat with it.

No kidding. Was one of those "It's only two in the morning, I can still finish this before work tomorrow!" moments.

**chuckles** Indeed! Believe me, I know that feeling. I definitely had it reading 'Hyperion', and reading the sequel, I HAD to know what happened to these characters.

Sounds like an infomercial. 'Introducing the Shrike, it slices, it dices, it makes Julian You.'

If it got people to read the books, I'd do that infomercial!
